The program spans biomedical and biological sciences with concentration areas including Anatomy & Neurobiology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Molecular & Integrative Physiology, Cell Biology, Immunology & Cancer Biology, and Pharmacology & Neuroscience.
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in a biological, chemical, or physical science. For thesis MS and PhD applicants, the minimum GPA requirement is 2.7 in the BA/BS degree and 3.0 in any graduate coursework. Required application materials include an online application, unofficial transcripts, a CV or resume, ID/passport, at least two recommendation letters, and a personal statement describing motivation, research experience, and future goals. Thesis MS and PhD applicants must also identify 2-3 faculty members whose research interests align with theirs. The GRE is strongly recommended but not required.
International students whose native language is not English must provide English proficiency scores such as TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo unless exempt. Financial support is available for thesis-based students through research and teaching assistantships, which include a stipend and tuition waiver; competitive fellowships are also available. Non-thesis M.S. students are not provided financial support.
Deadlines vary by intake: for Spring 2027, research-based MS and PhD applications receive priority if submitted by September 1, 2026, while the non-thesis MS deadline is October 1, 2026. For Summer 2027, the non-thesis MS deadline is May 1, 2027. For Fall 2027, research-based MS and PhD applications receive priority by January 15, 2027, and the non-thesis MS deadline is June 1, 2027.
