About this position

🚀 The University of Brescia (Italy) is collecting expressions of interest for PhD and postdoctoral opportunities in quantitative ecology and computational modelling.

The research group is recruiting for two PhD topics: predator–prey modelling and population dynamics. The work includes development and analysis of mechanistic models, model calibration and validation, biological parameter estimation, functional relationships, quantitative data analysis, and scientific programming.

Two postdoctoral positions are also advertised: one in quantitative ecology and computational modelling, and one focused on building an advanced computational platform for population dynamics modelling. Postdoctoral responsibilities include developing mechanistic and computational models, inference and uncertainty quantification methods, reproducible workflows, publication in leading journals, and contributions to Horizon Europe and other international projects.

Eligible candidates should be strongly interested in mathematical biology, statistics, data analysis, scientific programming (R, Python, C++, or similar), and computational modelling. The post emphasizes an active, collaborative environment with links to universities, research institutes, and public organizations across Europe and beyond.

Funding is available through national and European research projects. No deadline is stated in the post.

To apply, send a CV and a short cover letter describing your background, research interests, and motivation to anna.simonetto@unibs.it.
