About this position
RMIT University’s Centre for Nature Positive Solutions (CNPS) is inviting Expressions of Interest for fully funded PhD opportunities focused on plastic pollution and its solutions.
The advertised projects are multidisciplinary and span several research directions: (1) the plastisphere mobilome, examining how plastic pollution reshapes microbial communities, horizontal gene transfer, and ecosystem processes such as carbon and nutrient cycling; (2) a socioeconomic-technological perspective on plastic pollution, exploring how policy, finance, technology, and innovation can transform plastic management; and (3) plastic pollution and environmental justice, studying the social and ecological impacts of plastic pollution and informing more equitable policies and practices.
The opportunity is based at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia (City/Bundoora campuses). The post indicates that interested candidates should contact Dr Tanveer Adyel and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Shortlisted candidates will then be endorsed to apply for the RMIT PhD Scholarship scheme.
This call is especially relevant for applicants with interests in environmental science, biology, economics, political science, and public health, particularly those motivated by interdisciplinary research on plastic pollution, sustainability, and environmental justice.
No application deadline is stated in the post. Interested applicants should review the full project details and follow the EOI instructions via the linked page.
