PhD Position at the Radboud Institute for Culture & History (RICH), Radboud University

This PhD opening is based at the Faculty of Arts, Radboud University, in the Netherlands. The project sits within the Radboud Institute for Culture & History and should align with one of RICH’s research groups. The institute works across culture, history, literature, and art, with a focus on understanding the dynamics of an interconnected world and themes such as Europe’s difficult heritage, contested pasts, inequalities, and sustainability.

The successful candidate will join the Graduate School for the Humanities. The position is a PhD employment track with 75% of time devoted to dissertation research and writing, and 25% to training and academic service, including teaching. The contract is initially 1.5 years and may be extended after evaluation to a total of 4 or 5 years depending on the FTE arrangement.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in a discipline related to RICH, or completion by 15 September 2026; good English; strong writing skills; and a results-oriented profile. Prior research experience, such as a research assistantship, is considered an advantage.

Funding: this is a paid PhD employment position with a gross monthly salary of €3,059 rising to €3,881 from the fourth year, plus holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus.
