About this position
St. Anna Children's Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) in Vienna, Austria is advertising a PhD Student / Postdoc position in Computational Pediatric Cancer Genomics within the Sabine Taschner-Mandl Group.
The project focuses on neuroblastoma, with an emphasis on uncovering the tumor microenvironment and (epi)genetic drivers using patient-derived single-cell data. The successful candidate will develop and apply bioinformatics workflows for single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and multimodal integration, while also integrating additional multi-omics layers such as somatic copy number variation and mutation analysis in collaboration with wet-lab teams.
This is a full-time opportunity open to both PhD candidates and postdocs. Compensation is stated as the standard rate according to Austrian Science Fund (FWF) guidelines. The post also highlights access to state-of-the-art computational infrastructure, translational clinical impact, and mentorship for competitive fellowship applications.
Applicants should have an MSc or PhD completed or near completion in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or Cancer Genomics. Experience with NGS data analysis is expected, and experience with single-cell RNA-seq / ATAC-seq is strongly preferred. Proficiency in R and Python is also required.
The application deadline is 2026-09-15, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. For questions, contact Vanessa Kühl at vanessa.kuehl@ccri.at. A short link to the post/application details is included in the original post.
