About this position

The Institute of Molecular Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, Poland is advertising a full-time postdoctoral position within the OPUS-20 research project Artificial magnetic domains without domain walls in magnetically patterned Rare-Earth–Transition-Metal ferrimagnetic films (TWIST).

Research activities include magnetic patterning, magneto-optical measurements, analysis and interpretation of experimental results, and manuscript preparation. The scientific aims are closely connected to applications such as controlled spin-wave propagation, magnetophoresis devices, and information technologies. The announcement highlights the need to identify an optimal patterning method for ferrimagnetic layers, including achievable resolution, durability of magnetic properties, and nanoscale modification.

The position is classified in solid state physics and condensed matter properties, with strong links to surface physics and magnetic thin films. It is intended for a recognised researcher (R2) with a PhD in physics or a related field and documented experience in experimental work on magnetic thin film/nanostructures, especially under high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum conditions.

The appointment is for 11 months, starting on 1 October 2026. The job is full-time (40 hours per week). The salary is approximately 12,800 PLN per month in total employer cost. The institute notes excellent working conditions, state-of-the-art technical facilities, and international cooperation, but does not provide accommodation.
