About this position

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow in Digital and Sustainable Production Logistics. The project focuses on the development of digital activation and automation of material flows within warehouse and internal logistics in the pharmaceutical industry, with the aim of improving material visibility, traceability, and information management to create more efficient, resilient, and sustainable production systems.

The position is situated at the interface of academia and industry, with close collaboration with AstraZeneca and involvement in KTH's PROCEED initiative in Södertälje, alongside opportunities for research collaboration with Traton/Scania. The research includes empirical work on site at AstraZeneca in Södertälje, the development of design guidelines for automation-ready production logistics, standardized information flows, and future logistics solutions in real production environments.

The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a strong research environment at KTH and is expected to publish in leading scientific journals while helping to develop new research initiatives with academic and industrial partners. Regular physical presence in Södertälje is an important part of the role, and the position also involves work between KTH's central Stockholm campus and AstraZeneca's facility.

Eligibility requires a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree in industrial engineering, production engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, logistics, or a related field. Applicants should have relevant peer-reviewed publications and strong collaborative skills. Preferred qualifications include a recently completed PhD, experience with qualitative research and industrial collaboration, familiarity with production systems or warehouse operations, and knowledge of MES, WMS, ERP, or industrial automation technologies. Swedish language proficiency is considered meritorious.

The appointment is a temporary full-time postdoctoral position for up to two years. The deadline for applications is 2026-08-23. Applications must be submitted through KTH's recruitment system and should include a CV, cover letter, short research statement, diplomas and grades, translations where necessary, and contact information for at least two academic references.
