About this position
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for ACER CoE in Experimental Multiphase Flow Reactors for CCUS Systems, based in Benguerir, Morocco. This opportunity is centered on carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), decarbonization, and carbon-negative technologies, with a strong experimental and modelling emphasis.
The postdoc will contribute to research and development activities across a broad set of CCUS topics, including pyrolysis, gasification, hydrothermal carbonation, hydrothermal liquefaction, Fischer-Tropsch-related processes, CO2 capture methods such as chemical and calcium looping, absorption, adsorption, membranes, cryogenic separation, and molten salt technologies. The role also includes CO2 utilization and conversion to high-value chemicals through electrochemical or photochemical reduction, catalytic conversion, and biological routes, as well as CO2 mineralization using industrial waste.
Research responsibilities may include experimental development, testing, and demonstration of novel CCUS technologies; process simulation; cost, life cycle, and social assessment of CCUS value chains; reactor design, optimization, and sizing using phenomenological and/or CFD methods; and DFT or molecular modelling linked to CCUS. The position is especially suited to candidates who enjoy working at the interface of experiments and models within interdisciplinary teams.
The university seeks applicants with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, especially those with experience in reactor and process design and development. Strong research motivation, analytical skills, the ability to interpret experimental or simulation results, and evidence of multidisciplinary research productivity are important. Good English communication skills are required, together with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
This is a postdoctoral contract (CDD) at UM6P in Benguerir, Morocco. The expected start date is as soon as possible.
