About this position

Postdoc opportunity in autoimmunity and inhibitory receptors at UMC Utrecht

The Inhibitory Receptor Lab at UMC Utrecht is recruiting a PostDoc for a project focused on discovering and characterizing new inhibitory receptors in autoimmunity. The work is embedded in the Center for Translational Immunology and linked to the Oncode Institute, with a strong translational and public-private collaboration component.

The project builds on prior computational identification of ~400 putative inhibitory receptors in the human genome. The selected postdoc will help short-list candidates with an industrial partner, then perform functional characterization using cellular immunology approaches, including cell culture, flow cytometry-based assays, CRISPR/Cas9 in primary human cells, and deeper analysis of immune cells from controls and patients with autoimmune diseases.

This is an industry-funded postdoc position for 1(+2) years. The offer includes a gross monthly salary of €3,724–€5,876 for full-time work (36 hours), plus an 8.3% year-end bonus, 8% holiday allowance, ABP pension contribution, and public transport reimbursement.

Applicants should have strong motivation for early-stage therapeutic development, experience with primary human cell culture and flow cytometry, and an interest in immunology. Experience with assay design and troubleshooting is preferred.

The supervisors mentioned are Dr. Michiel van der Vlist and Prof. Linde Meyaard. Questions can be directed to Linde Meyaard at l.meyaard@umcutrecht.nl.

Deadline: 25 August 2026.
