About this position

Yale University’s Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH) in the Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a Post Doctoral Associate to support collaborative research, training, and policy development in behavioral health.

The position centers on research with Dr. Harper, whose work uses qualitative and mixed methods approaches informed by transformative and community-based participatory research (CBPR). Projects include the NIH-funded ENCAMP-CT study on non-congregate shelter effects on mental health crises in Connecticut, and the NIH/DMHAS-funded Connecticut Mental Health Center Financial Health project examining financial management support needs among people with serious mental illness, people experiencing homelessness, people who use drugs, and people with incarceration histories.

Responsibilities include project coordination, research design, data collection and analysis, meetings and presentations, liaison work with community partners, supervision of interns and research assistants, literature reviews, scoping reviews, communications and dissemination, grant writing, manuscript preparation, and conference presentations.

Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field such as Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or Anthropology. Required experience includes community-based or mixed methods research on health disparities and structural conditions affecting mental health, plus qualitative data collection and analysis using NVivo or similar software. Interest in economic conditions and financial systems is important; Spanish fluency is an advantage.

This is a full-time appointment for one year with full benefits, an annual salary of $68,500, and possible renewal for a second year depending on performance and funding. Much of the work is remote, with some in-person data collection and periodic meetings.

To apply, email a cover letter and CV to annie.harper@yale.edu with the subject line “Post-doc Applicant: Encamp and Financial Health”. Review begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.
