About this position

Postdoctoral Fellowships in Computational Biology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, in the Cancer Genomics and Evolution Laboratory led by Prof. Dr. Peter Van Loo.

The lab seeks talented and motivated postdocs to work on cancer genomics, tumor evolution, and large-scale pan-cancer data analysis. The group is highly data-driven, with a strong focus on developing computational methods and using large datasets to gain biological insight. The lab is mostly computational with a small wet-lab component.

Research themes include mutational processes, intra-tumor heterogeneity, evolutionary history of cancer, biallelic mutations, DNA methylation and genomic alterations, subclonal reconstruction, and chromosomal instability in genome-doubled tumors. The lab has a strong publication record in Nature, Cell, and Science.

Applicants should have a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or a related area. The call also welcomes candidates from computational biology, physics, (bio)statistics, biology, or medicine. A proven publication record is required, and experience with massively parallel sequencing data is an advantage.

Postdocs are expected to lead their own project, collaborate within the lab and with external collaborators, and help guide PhD students. Teamwork is essential.

Funding is a postdoctoral position with salary commensurate with experience. No tuition or fee waiver is mentioned.

To apply, email a cover letter, CV with publication list, and three references to pvanloo@mdanderson.org.

Deadline: 2026-10-27.
