About this position

Baylor University is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Experimental High Energy Physics to join the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The position is based at the Fermilab LHC Physics Center in Batavia, Illinois, United States.

The research environment includes work on the Phase 2 upgrade of the endcap calorimeter, development of novel calorimeters for future experiments, operation of the upgraded hadron calorimeter, trigger optimization, particle flow reconstruction, and physics analyses involving the top quark, rare Higgs decays, supersymmetry, and other beyond-the-Standard-Model phenomena. The group also uses machine learning for data analysis.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and research experience in experimental high energy physics. Strong C++ and Python programming skills are required, and machine learning experience is preferred. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to novel physics analyses in effective field theory, CMS detector operations, and future detector upgrades.

To apply, submit a cover letter, CV, statement of research interests, and contact information for three professional references via Baylor's jobs portal. In addition, arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be emailed to hep-postdoc-letters@baylor.edu. Review begins immediately and continues until the position is filled.

This is a full-time postdoctoral opening with Baylor employee benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous time off, tuition remission, and retirement contributions.
