About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in Electrochemistry at the National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics (NICPB), Tallinn, Estonia.
The Energy Technologies Working Group at NICPB is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral researcher to join an international team working on next-generation electrochemical technologies and processes. The research environment combines fundamental electrochemistry with practical applications in hydrogen production, fuel cells, advanced catalysts, batteries, electrochemical CO2 reduction, and renewable energy systems.
This position is aimed at an ambitious scientist who wants to lead innovative experimental research, publish in high-impact journals, supervise MSc and PhD students, and contribute to national and European research proposals. The role involves coordinating laboratory activities, designing and optimizing electrochemical experiments, interpreting data, presenting at international conferences, and collaborating with academic and industrial partners across Europe and beyond.
Key experimental techniques mentioned include cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry, and related methods. The postdoctoral researcher will also support the development of laboratory capabilities and research infrastructure.
Eligibility highlights include a PhD in Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field; strong practical and theoretical knowledge of electrochemical methods; independent experimental research experience; a strong publication record; experience writing scientific articles and technical reports; leadership and supervisory ability; and excellent English. Experience with Raman spectroscopy and other physical characterization methods is an advantage.
Funding is provided as a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience, with access to state-of-the-art electrochemical laboratories, scientific infrastructure, and support for publishing, conferences, and professional development.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Applicants should submit a CV, motivation letter, list of publications, and contact details for at least two academic referees.
Funding details
Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
