About this position

Technical University of Munich is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Production and Resource Economics within the Chair Group of Agricultural Production and Resource Economics at the TUM School of Management / TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan.

The position is designed for a researcher who wants to develop an independent agenda in economics, especially environmental economics, natural resource economics, agricultural economics, production economics, and digital economics. The post covers research topics such as biodiversity, soil economics, bioeconomy analysis, climate change economics, water governance, food waste, agricultural production modelling, productivity and efficiency analysis, food economics, policy impact analysis, smart agricultural technologies, and AI in agriculture and food production.

The successful candidate will lead and contribute to high-impact empirical research and natural resource economics projects, including large international Horizon Europe collaborations and nationally funded projects. The role also includes teaching activities, curriculum development, and contributing to competitive project funding bids.

Applicants should have an excellent PhD in economics or a closely related field, with preference for environmental, natural resource, agricultural, or innovation economics, or applied statistics. Strong applied econometrics, analytical skills, publication potential, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team are emphasized. Excellent English is required; German is an asset.

The appointment is for 1.5 years with the possibility of extension. Salary follows the German public pay scale TV-L E13 (100%). The application deadline is 2026-06-12.
