About this position
The Yang Lab at the University of Washington is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers for a newly funded interdisciplinary program at the interface of biosensing and wearable bioelectronics, in close collaboration with the Baker Lab at the UW Institute for Protein Design.
Position 1: Biochemical Sensing — This role is suited to candidates with a PhD in electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field, plus hands-on experience in electrochemical and/or affinity-based biosensing. Desired expertise includes surface functionalization, biomolecule immobilization on electrodes, sensor performance characterization in complex biological samples, biomolecule handling, and anti-fouling surface chemistry.
Position 2: Wearable Bioelectronic Devices — This role is suited to candidates with a PhD in electrical, materials, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field) and strong microfabrication/cleanroom experience. Desired expertise includes thin-film deposition, photolithography, patterning, electrode fabrication on flexible substrates, wearable device integration, microfluidics, multi-material device stacks, and reliability testing.
The positions are part of a collaborative, translational research effort with strong health applications and access to state-of-the-art nanofabrication and characterization facilities. The postdocs may have the opportunity to work closely with, and potentially be co-advised by, the Baker Lab/Institute for Protein Design.
Target start: approximately September 2026.
How to apply: email your CV and a brief statement of research interests to Prof. Quansan Yang at quansany@uw.edu. Referrals are welcome.
