Multiple Postdoctoral and PhD Positions in High-Power and Directed-Energy Lasers
Elham Heidari, Assistant Professor in ECE and Director of the SNOWMASS Lab at the University of Florida, is inviting applications for multiple
Postdoctoral Researcher
and
Ph.D. Student
positions in
high-power lasers
,
photonics
, and
quantum photonic integrated circuits
.
The research focuses on
kW-class high-power and directed-energy laser systems
, including scalable high-power laser architectures, coherent and spectral beam combining, optical phased arrays, precision beam steering and control, thermal management, high-current electrical drivers, reliability testing, and system-level demonstrations.
Applicants should have strong hands-on cleanroom experience, especially with
ICP-RIE
and
RIE
process development for
III-V semiconductor materials
. Desired skills include high-aspect-ratio plasma etching, sidewall-profile and surface-roughness control, hard-mask development, etch-selectivity optimization, plasma-damage mitigation, passivation, metallization, photolithography, electron-beam lithography, wafer bonding, and complete semiconductor-laser process integration.
Experience with
GaAs
-,
InP
-, or
GaSb
-based devices; coherent or spectral beam combining; adaptive optics; thermal modeling; high-power optical characterization;
COMSOL
; or
Lumerical
is highly desirable.
U.S. citizenship is required
.
