Master’s/PhD by Research in Composite Structures Delamination Growth and Structural Health Monitoring
Call for
Master’s / PhD students
for a postgraduate research opportunity at
Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA)
, Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, in
Malaysia
.
The project focuses on
analysis of delamination growth in thin-walled composite structures
using
computer-aided pattern recognition
of acoustic signal features from a
Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor network
. Research themes include
composite structures
,
structural health monitoring
,
FBG sensing
,
acoustic and dynamic strain analysis
,
signal processing
,
pattern recognition
, and
machine learning
.
The selected student will work on composite specimen preparation and testing, FBG sensor-network installation, acoustic-signal acquisition, time-frequency feature extraction, and development of intelligent models for delamination-growth assessment.
Applicants should preferably have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering
,
Materials Engineering
,
Mechatronics
,
Electrical Engineering
,
Data Science
,
Physics
, or a related discipline. Experience with
MATLAB
,
Python
, signal processing, composite materials, FBG sensing, or machine learning is advantageous, though motivated candidates willing to learn are welcome.
A
monthly allowance
will be provided for eligible postgraduate students.
To apply, email your
CV
,
academic transcripts
, and a
brief statement of research interest
to
hafizi@umpsa.edu.my
. The post does not mention a deadline.
