Postdoctoral Researcher in Continuous Crystallizer Design (CFD) at KU Leuven

KU Leuven in Belgium is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the research group of Prof. Simon Kuhn in the Department of Chemical Engineering. The project is part of the ERC Advanced Grant CrystalControl and focuses on continuous crystallization , computational fluid dynamics (CFD) , OpenFOAM , particle simulations (DEM) , multiphase flow modeling , crystallizer design and scale-up , and process intensification for continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing . This is a research-intensive postdoctoral opportunity for candidates with a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong CFD experience, especially with OpenFOAM, is emphasized, along with knowledge of multiphase flow and/or DEM. The post also values applicants who can integrate computational modeling with experimental research and who have excellent English communication skills. The appointment is for 1 year initially , with the possibility of extension to 2 years . The post is based in Leuven, Belgium , within an internationally recognized team with academic and industrial collaborations. Application deadline: 24 August 2026.
