About this position

DAAD is offering Study Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies in the Field of Music in Germany for international applicants seeking advanced artistic training. This is a master’s/postgraduate scholarship rather than a job opening, and it supports study at a state college of music of your choice in Germany.

The programme covers degree studies leading to a Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification such as Konzertexamen or Meisterklasse, as well as advanced studies without a degree when connected to a German college of music through written supervision confirmation. It is intended for applicants in the artistic field of music; candidates in musicology, music education, or scientific music projects should look for other DAAD programmes.

Eligibility: you must have a first degree in music by the time the scholarship begins, or have exhausted all training opportunities in your home country if no degree is available there. The selection is based on artistic qualification, artistic maturity, study achievements, work samples, and the quality and feasibility of your proposed project.

Funding includes a monthly stipend of 992 euros, a travel allowance (upon application), a one-off study allowance, and contributions to health, accident, and personal liability insurance. Additional support may be available for rent, accompanying family members, disability/chronic illness-related costs, and climate-friendly travel. DAAD also supports language preparation, including online German courses, possible pre-study German courses, a personally chosen German course during the scholarship, and reimbursement of TestDaF/DSH fees.

Important note: DAAD does not cover tuition fees. Admission to the host college is separate from the scholarship decision and often requires an entrance examination. Applicants should check the chosen college’s admission and audition deadlines well in advance.
