About this position

Four-year doctoral scholarship available in AI teaming with human software engineers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM Campus Heilbronn), in collaboration with the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU Eindhoven).

The project sits at the intersection of software engineering, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction, with a focus on how LLMs and AI agents are being integrated into software teams. Research questions include the acceptance and trust of AI agents, as well as their impact on productivity and software development workflows.

The doctoral researcher will join a larger international team consisting of four professors from TUM and TUe, a post-doctoral researcher at TUM, and additional doctoral researchers at both universities. The position is part of the TUM International Graduate School of Science and Engineering.

Applicants should have an outstanding master's degree in a suitable area and a strong background in software engineering. Competence in AI and HCI is preferred, and a background in psychology is considered beneficial. The post is aimed at a PhD/doctoral researcher and is described as a four-year scholarship.

To apply, send your CV and master certificate with grades to stefan.wagner@tum.de. Applications are appreciated before 2026-05-19.
