About this position
University of Warwick and Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) are offering a fully funded PhD in Creative Industries focused on acting on organisations and how dramatic pedagogies shape work, culture, performance, leadership, communication, and organisational change.
This project explores how theatrical training and drama-based learning are used beyond the stage, including professional development, education, organisational practice, and community engagement. It is especially interested in the transferability of skills developed through drama training, such as communication, collaboration, adaptability, creativity, resilience, and leadership, and how these skills are understood and valued within organisations.
The opportunity is interdisciplinary and can be shaped around the applicant’s interests. Possible methods include mixed methods research, alumni career tracking, interviews, focus groups, surveys, organisational case studies, and evaluation of professional development interventions delivered through RADA Business.
Funding: Home fees plus a UKRI-rate stipend (£21,805 for 2026/2027).
Eligibility: Applicants should have a first-class or strong upper second-class undergraduate degree in an Arts and Humanities subject, plus either a Masters degree with distinction or merit in any subject area, or equivalent professional experience in the creative sector.

Then submit the scholarship application with a CV (max 2 pages), a research proposal (max 3 pages), and any statement addressing the ranking criteria. Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed.
