The project is titled Nanobody-based precision targeting tools for theranostic applications in gynaecological cancers (RS982) and focuses on ovarian cancer, translational oncology, cancer immunology, molecular and cellular biology, biotherapeutics, and protein engineering.
The studentship is part of the Swansea University Strategic Partnership Research Scholarship scheme and is open to UK and international applicants. It is a full-time doctoral project with time split between Swansea University (Singleton Campus) and Houston Methodist Research Institute. The research will involve identifying and validating ovarian cancer surface antigens, working with patient-derived samples, tumour slices, 3D tumour models, genomic analyses, nanobody discovery and engineering, epitope mapping, tumour–immune interactions, and preclinical imaging/therapy evaluation.
Funding includes full tuition fees, an annual UKRI-rate stipend of £21,805 for 2026/27, and up to £500 per year in research expenses. The project starts in October 2026, with an alternative start date in January 2027. Closing date is 17 August 2026.
