About this position

Applications are open for the 2027 Max Planck Institute Scholarship Programme at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Germany.

This is a fully funded short-term research scholarship for outstanding international legal scholars, with a research stay of 1–3 months. The programme is funded by the Max Planck Society and offers access to exceptional research resources, one of Europe’s foremost legal libraries, and a strong international research environment.

Research area: Law, especially comparative and international private law, legal research, and related scholarly work aligned with the Institute’s priorities.

Eligible applicants: international scholars whose primary residence is outside Germany, including doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, early-career academics, established researchers, and professors.

Application materials: CV, statement of purpose, research proposal, academic publications where applicable, recommendation letters if required, and supporting academic documents.

Deadline: 15 August 2026. Only one application round will be held.

Funding details
