About this position
PhD Position in AI for Synthetic Biology and Computational Systems Biology at CNB-CSIC, Madrid, Spain, within the Systems Biotechnology Group.
This is a 4-year fully funded PhD focused on AI-driven biology to understand and predict microbial behavior. The project combines Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, Bioinformatics, and multi-omics analysis.
Research tasks include developing data-driven and automated DBTL approaches, modeling microbial systems, studying bacterial behavior, adaptation, and population heterogeneity, integrating biological datasets, and building predictive workflows and reproducible analytical tools. The work is interdisciplinary and involves both computational and experimental teams.
Applicants should have a background in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Biology, Math, Physics, or a related area. Experience with Python, R, MATLAB, or Julia is desirable, especially for data analysis, machine learning, and bioinformatics.
