PhD opportunity in Social Work and International Migration at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)

NTNU is advertising a 3-year PhD Candidate position at the Department of Social Work, within the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences, in Trondheim, Norway. The project sits in the interdisciplinary IMER field (International Migrations and Ethnic Relations) and is linked to the research group Migration and welfare.

Research focus: international migration, migration strategies and policies, and ethnic relations. The successful candidate will study opportunities and consequences of international migration and will join a research environment spanning social work, sociology, political science, economics, and anthropology.

A strong academic record is expected, normally at least a B average on NTNU’s scale. Applicants must satisfy admission requirements for the PhD programme in Social Sciences and demonstrate fluent English. Experience with IMER studies, comparative analysis, research methods, and a strong project proposal are preferred.

Funding and terms: this is a salaried PhD employment, normally NOK 550,800 gross per year depending on qualifications and seniority, for a 3-year period. Standard Norwegian public-sector pension and employee benefits apply.

How to apply: submit the application electronically via Jobbnorge.no. Required attachments include CV, certificates and diplomas, transcripts, master’s thesis or confirmation of submission, a project proposal of up to 3,000 words, three references, and any relevant publications or research work.
