About this position
PhD opportunity at Institut de Biologie Valrose (CNRS), Nice, France
This 36-month doctoral position focuses on the links between nutrition, metabolism, and cellular differentiation, using Drosophila spermatogenesis as a model system. The project builds on recent findings from the team showing that circulating citrate can influence male gametogenesis through conversion to acetyl-CoA and N-terminal acetylation, affecting protein stability in a sex-specific manner.
The research aims to: (i) clarify how metabolic regulation achieves specificity through N-terminal acetylation, and (ii) identify new metabolic pathways involved in the control of male fertility. Planned work includes genetics, tissue dissections, Western blotting, immunostaining, and confocal microscopy.
The position is hosted by the Institut de Biologie Valrose in Nice, on the Mediterranean coast, within a multidisciplinary institute with English as the working language. The offer is a full-time FTC PhD student / thesis contract with a salary of 2300 € gross per month.
Eligibility / profile: interest in cellular biology, development, evolution-development, and reproduction; motivation for experimental work in Drosophila, molecular biology, and microscopy is relevant. The post is open to people with a document recognizing disabled worker status.
Deadline: 24 August 2026 at 23:59. Apply via the CNRS employment portal.
