About this position
PhD position at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS), within the Electronic Components, Technology and Materials section of the Microelectronics Department.
The project is part of the growth fund POLARIS and focuses on thermal management in highly integrated electrical systems such as high-performance computing and communication arrays. The research aims to develop innovative nanomaterial solutions for heat removal, including potential use as thermal interface materials or for other heat dissipation pathways.
You will synthesize materials in the EKL cleanroom, fabricate test structures, and validate thermal performance and other relevant materials properties. The work is positioned at the intersection of electrical engineering, materials science, and applied physics, with opportunities to collaborate with academic, research, and industrial partners in the consortium.
Eligibility: applicants should hold an MSc in electrical engineering, materials science, applied physics, or a closely related field. Prior experience in cleanroom processing and/or thermal or materials analysis is strongly recommended. English proficiency is required for doctoral study and scientific communication.
Funding and conditions: this is a paid doctoral employment position for 4 years in principle. Salary ranges from €3059 to €3881 gross per month (full-time, 38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus. TU Delft also mentions health insurance discounts and a monthly work costs contribution.
