About this position
Postdoc opportunity at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands, in collaboration with Canon Production Printing, focused on sustainable printing from processing to performance.
The project is embedded in the multidisciplinary Processing and Performance of Materials group and aims to develop eco-friendly latex-based and UV-curable inks and coatings for next-generation printing applications. The successful candidate will work on computational modeling of ink performance, building multi-scale mechanical models to predict how printed inks respond to mechanical and environmental stress.
Key research tasks include extending the Eindhoven Glass Polymer Model for latex-based and UV-curable inks, implementing FEM simulations that connect chemistry, processing, and performance, and integrating experimental data from two experimentally oriented PhD researchers for model validation. The postdoc will collaborate closely with the PhD team and with Canon Production Printing to support data-driven ink optimization and sustainable materials development.
This is a three-year, full-time postdoc position at TU/e, with salary according to Dutch university scales (scale 10: €3,706 to €5,760 gross per month), plus holiday allowance and a year-end bonus. Additional employment benefits include pension participation, training opportunities, research infrastructure, and support for international candidates.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computational Science, or a related field. Strong numerical modeling and/or computational physics/mechanics experience is required, along with programming skills in Fortran and/or Python, a research-oriented and critical mindset, teamwork skills, and fluent English at C1 level. Experience or interest in teaching and coaching students is also valued.
The vacancy is open until filled, with a stated last application date of 2026-09-04. Applications must be submitted online and include a cover letter, CV with publications and three references, and up to five best publications.
