About this position
Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
This fixed-term postdoctoral opportunity is part of the Horizon-funded CORRAL project, focused on helping Local and Regional Authorities adapt coastal communities to climate change through the Coastal Regenerative Resilience (CR2) framework. The work combines coastal climate adaptation, environmental science, earth science, civil engineering, and computer science.
The successful researcher will work on two main strands: (1) eco-geomorphological hydrodynamics modelling for coastal nature-based solutions using tools such as Delft3D Flexible Mesh, including hydrodynamic, morphodynamic, and bio-geomorphic modules; and (2) artificial neural networks for coastal digital twins, using remote sensing, field observations, and numerical model outputs to forecast erosion, accretion, and morphological change.
The project includes selected stretches of the Barcelona coastline and addresses seagrass meadows, salt marshes, dunes, waves, currents, and sediment transport. Deliverables include a solutions development report, an online solutions catalogue, and web-based scale-up packages for deployment and replication.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 42 months, starting October 2026. The deadline is 13 August 2026. Applicants should have a PhD by the start date, although candidates awaiting confirmation may be appointed temporarily at Grade 6 until the doctorate is awarded.
Apply via the University of Liverpool recruitment portal using the official job link.
