About this position

Postdoctoral researcher / project lead position in Virtual Reality, time perception, and space perception at ETH Zurich and the Technical University of Munich.

This is a cross-border, interdisciplinary research project funded by SNSF and DFG through the WEAVE scheme. The project sits at the intersection of psychology, technology, human-computer interaction, and quantitative research, with a focus on how people perceive time and space in immersive virtual environments.

The role is designed for a senior researcher who can combine independent scholarship with scientific leadership. You will work directly with the Principal Investigators at ETH Zurich (Chair of Technology Marketing) and TUM (Professorship of Marketing & Technology), help shape the research agenda, refine study designs, and drive the project toward top-tier publications.

The team includes two PhD researchers: one at ETH Zurich focused on VR development and one at TUM focused on behavioral and psychology aspects. The postdoc will mentor and coordinate these researchers, integrate their work into joint papers, and contribute to experimental design, analysis, and manuscript development.

Applicants should have a completed or near-completed PhD in human-computer interaction, psychology, quantitative marketing, information systems, or a closely related field. Strong quantitative skills in R, Python, or Stata are expected; experience with machine learning or advanced experimental methods is a plus. Experience with VR toolkits such as Unity, Unreal, or eye tracking is advantageous. Professional English is required; German is helpful but not mandatory.

The position is a fixed-term 100% postdoctoral appointment based at ETH Zurich and remunerated according to ETH Zurich / SNF postdoctoral salary scales. The post also offers access to external quantitative training opportunities and support for research stays in Germany or abroad.

Application deadline: 25 August 2026. Apply by sending a single PDF containing a cover letter, CV with publication list/working papers, and two academic references to marktech@mgt.tum.de. TUM will collect all applications.
