The University of Luxembourg is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Biology within the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB). The position sits in the Computational Biology group led by Prof. Antonio del Sol and is embedded in an interdisciplinary, international environment focused on systems biomedicine, translational research, and disease modeling.

The project is part of a European consortium aiming to personalize high-dose glucocorticoid therapy in children with acute immune-mediated diseases. The work will compare treatment regimens and identify multi-omics biomarkers that can predict treatment response and toxicity. The successful candidate will integrate clinical data, patient-reported outcomes, and multi-omics profiles to develop predictive models for safer and more effective individualized steroid use.

Key responsibilities include data harmonization, multi-omics integration, and the development of machine-learning models for patient stratification and outcome prediction. The project also involves converting complex multi-layered datasets into clinically actionable biomarkers and decision-support tools that support personalized treatment algorithms.

The research environment at LCSB is highly interdisciplinary, bringing together scientists from biology, computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics, and clinical disciplines. The centre emphasizes fundamental and translational research in systems biology and biomedicine, with particular interest in neurodegenerative processes such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, as well as broader computational and molecular approaches to human disease.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, biology, computer science, or a related field. Strong computational skills, including machine learning, are required, along with a strong first-author publication record and fluency in English. Preferred experience includes first-author publications in bioinformatics and/or computational biology, as well as prior work on machine-learning approaches in biological systems.

The post is a fixed-term contract for 18 months at full time. The annual gross salary is EUR 85,176 for a full-time postdoctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg.
